Apr 28, 2012Upcoming Titles! - Hey kids, I've got some amazing content coming your way in the next few weeks, including Aaron Dilloway "Modern Jester" (Hanson), The Drift "Blue Heur" (Temporary Residence), Moholy-Nagy (ex-Tarentel) "s/r" (Temporary Residence), Led er Est's new one (Sacred Bones), and a stunning, incredible, life-changing disc Gareth Dickson "Quite a Way Away" (12k). Later, look for a soundtrack from Fennesz and a wonderful new one on Touch from Hildur Gudnadottir. Also to be confirmed are a small handful of releases on Rune Grammofon. And, the biggest project to date from Flingo Sound System - a near 'pop' record from the label that brought you that amazing Tetras 2LP and the Locrian seven inch! Lastly, everyone will be getting two super strong CDs from Hozac, and then a few weeks later a small subset of stations will get some Hozac seven inch singles!Apr 27, 2012Welcome Rocket Girl! - Some of you MDs who have been around college radio will surely remember the fine UK label Rocket Girl. Well, they are making a long overdue return to college radio with two new projects: the first release in a decade from Fuxa and a new solo disc from ex-Clan of Xymox member Pieter Nooten - best known for his excellent collaboration with Michael Brook for 4AD back when 4AD was king.Apr 27, 2012Extra Special Intentionally Vague Announcement! - Coming this summer will be the inaugural two or three (this is just a place-holder title) "Pirtlegimp Thanks You" compilations. Artists are collecting rare tracks, compilation contributions, special edits of out of print material, cover songs, and maybe even a new composition here and there. The first two artists can't be announced yet - but I will say that one is signed to Kranky and the other is associated with Type! The first master has been delivered to Pirtle HQ for manufacturing. This is a very exciting new component to what we do and Pirtlegimp would like like to thank the present and future artists for their time and effort. Also thanks to all you fine stations out there for giving such careful attention to Pirtle packages. This delicate and wistful masterpiece is sure to warm hearts while bringing tears to eyes - the CDRs are being run off especially for Pirtleworld and are coming from New Zealand, so this may not hit your desks for a while but I wanted to get the word out now.Feb 18, 2012Happy Birthday Pirtle - So, with no fanfare to speak of, Pirtlegimp Promotions turned five years old last month! Hard to believe it has been five years since we launched with the Autumn in Halifax campaign! Okay, there was a little fanfare: reports are surfacing out of Nashville of a passed out Boston Terrier at Pirtle HQ... more details as they become available.
